Someday — Reverend Ike

“I’ve heard of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. But I’ve never heard of Someday.”

—Reverend Ike

We have to start before we can succeed at anything and when we keep putting off our dreams until Someday, we unconsciously stall moving toward what we want. We are better served when instead of wishfully thinking “Someday, I will…” we confidently affirm “Today, I steadfastly advance toward my goal.”

May you always be willing to give up Someday for this day.

The Real Journey Begins — Wendell Berry

“It may be that when we no longer know what to do, we have come to our real work, and when we no longer know which way to go, we have begun our real journey.”

—Wendell Berry

Have you ever noticed how often life reveals itself to us on a “need-to-know” basis? We don’t have to be consciously aware of what to do next because our inner being always knows. Sometimes it’s best to just be willing to let the adventure begin, trusting that everything else will take care of itself.

May you always be willing to trust your journey will take you where you need to go, wherever that might be.

Mastering Love — St. Francis De Sales

You learn to speak by speaking, to study by studying, to run by running, to work by working; and just so you learn to love God and man by loving. Begin as a mere apprentice and the very power of love will lead you on to become a master of the art.”

—St. Francis De Sales

An amazing thing happens when we commit to mastering love. The more we love, the better we live, and in opening our minds, hearts and arms to love, we look around us and one day discover we have mastered something else as well: We have mastered our lives.

May you always be willing to master love.

Fantasy Land — Dr. Seuss

“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living. “

—Dr. Seuss

Too few of us are willing to indulge in fantasy. We’ve been told that fantasizing is lazy and childish and has no place in the real world, and so when impossible dreams knock at the door of our thinking, we tend to dismiss them quickly, telling ourselves we must act like grownups.

Once upon a time, however, a fellow named Disney gave apt attention to a small fantasy about a little mouse until he ended up building it into a multi-million dollar amusement park that is still, today, internationally known. There really is no telling what we can come up with when we combine energy, love and enthusiasm with the seeming impossible fantasies we dare entertain. The one thing we should never underestimate, as we look at the world of fantasy around us today, is the amazing power of the imagination.

May you always be willing to dream the impossible dream.

The Fern and the Bamboo

One day I decided to quit. I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality.  I wanted to quit my life.  I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.

“God,”  I said. “Can you give me one good reason not to quit?”

His answer surprised me..

“Look around”, He said.  “Do you see the fern and the bamboo?”

“Yes”, I replied.

“When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth.  It’s brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.

In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo”.

He said.  “In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo seed.  But I would not quit.”

In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed.  But I would not quit.

He said. “Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth.  Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant.”

But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.”

He said to me. “Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots. I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you. Don’t compare yourself to others, the bamboo had a different purpose than the fern, yet, they both make the forest beautiful. Your time will come,” God said to me. “You will rise high!”

“How high should I rise?” I asked.

“How high will the bamboo rise?” He asked in return.

“As high as it can?”  I questioned.

“Yes.”  He said, “Give me glory by rising as high as you can.”

I left the forest and brought back this story. I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you.

Never regret a day in your life.

         Good days give you Happiness.

         Bad days give you Experiences.

         Both are essential to life.

         Keep going…

         Happiness keeps you Sweet,

         Trials keep you Strong,

         Sorrows keep you Human,

         Failures keep you Humble,

         Success keeps You Glowing,

But Only God keeps You Going!

Have a great day!  The Son is shining!!

God is so big He can cover the whole world with his Love and so small He can curl up inside your heart.

“We are not human beings going through a temporary spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings going through a temporary human experience
