Swimming Lessons

“What do you first do when you learn to swim? You make mistakes, do you not? And what happens? You make other mistakes, and when you have made all the mistakes you possibly can without drowning – and some of them many times over – what do you find? That you can swim! Well – life is just the same as learning to swim. Do not be afraid of making mistakes, for there is no other way of learning how to live.”

— Alfred Adler

Persistence pays. Anyone who’s ever learned any new skill can attest to that. Persistence makes it possible for you to do the things you once knew you couldn’t, by strengthening and reinforcing your belief that you can. So persist.

Fearlessly make mistakes and then make some more. Because with each mistake made and gained from, you’ll move closer to what you want. Your persistence will be the current that takes you there.

May you always let persistence take your forward.

Swearing, Cussing and Blessing

First off, I was in the army for a bit, and could and did, until about a year ago curse like a sailor…  Always, from fairly early on, kind of felt it was silly not to use my four letter vocabulary.

That is until I was listening to some tapes, I believe by Mike Dooley, web site:  http://www.tut.com/ .  If I attribute this to the wrong person, sorry.  Mike’s audio programs are still fabulous regardless.  The gist was this, when we curse, we are asking the universe to curse us.  Like if we say, “God Dxxx” this car, when our car acts up.  Or “Fxxx Me”, what we are asking for is for the universe through the law of attraction, to do an injury to our car, or for the universe, or god/God, depending on your belief set, to do us personally an injury…

Well, I had been a believer in The Law (Law of Attraction or LOA) for a bit when I heard this, and it hit me like a ton of bricks.  For a while afterwards, I actually visibly shuddered when someone else would curse around me (recall I was a world class curser up till this point).  I very seldom curse now.  Last time I recall letting a good one out, I was intoxicated.  Gotta work on that still.  Work in progress.  Men at work.  Hard hat area.

A lot of programs tell us to avoid miscreation and leave us hanging on what might be called for with regards to positive creations in a situation calling for a world class expletive.  I twisted for a while and finally came up with some workable solutions which I am going to share with you for when only a good old fashioned expletive will do.  I realized I could go for God Bless it, or Bless it, or Bless me.  Said with gusto of course, it’s an expletive after all.  But do mean well with it.  Feelings count with creation.

I feel better when I say it.  And, letting it blurt out feels like it releases the energy that a good expletive accomplishes in its course.  And, believing the law as I do, I feel it helps create a better overall result through its creative power.

The other area on which I might go with this, and I hadn’t thought of this for my almost 50 years till this time, is I go with “Darn it!”  I had thought that “darn” was synonymous with the bad “D” word for most of my life.  Then I started thinking about it, and realized the one definition I know of from my youth on darning is, that darning is a form of mending folks used to do with wooden eggs and darning needles to mend sox whose heals had warn out.  So, if we consciously feel that darning is mending, and we say “darn it” we are asking the universe to mend something.  And, that is positive creation.

Peace and positive thoughts be with you,

So

So think as if your every thought were to be etched in fire upon the sky for all and everything to see. For so, in truth, it is.

So speak as if the entire world were but a single ear intent on hearing what you say. And so, in truth, it is.

So do as if your every deed were to recoil upon your heads. And so, in truth, it does.

So wish as if you were the wish. And so, in truth, you are.

So live your life as if God himself had need of you. His life to live. And so, in truth, He does.”

— Mikhail Naimy
from The Book of Mirdad

So it seems that everything we think and say and do and wish becomes the life we live for God. And so, in truth, it does.

So it appears that with every step we take we are experiencing God. And so, in truth, we are.

May you always be aware that God is in your experience.

Mirroring Discussion Topic

Mirroring is a very interesting concept and makes for an excellent topic of discussion as it is open to so wide an interpretation of what is and what isn’t mirroring.

So, what is mirroring?  It is the concept that whatever we perceive in the world is really whatever is going on within each of us.  So, as you read this, it is really a mirror of what is going on inside your head.  As someone else reads it, it mirrors what is going on inside their head.  As I write it, it is a mirror of what is going on inside my head, and so on.

This makes more sense when you consider that each of us sees the world through our own filter.    No two people see an identical event in identical ways.  There is always some difference, often quite the difference.  The Arabs and Israelis for instance.  Or Democrats and Republicans.  Or Communists and Fascists.  Each of these groups sees events similarly within their own group, a little differently from each person in their group, and generally wildly different from the people in the contrasting groups.

One corollary of this I have heard is that when someone we know commits suicide, mirroring occurs here where we wanted to kill off that part of usrepresented by that person who killed them self, wholly.  Yeah, I know.  Very twilight zone and disturbing that we are somehow responsible through our thoughts and feelings for someone elses self demise.   Especially when we consider that we each have right of choice, and that other person made their choice on their own… right?  So, how can they both mirror our thoughts and feelings, especially when we may have loved that person, and have the independent, inalienable right of choice, and still be mirroring our thought to have that part of us killed off?

Is it like the Law of Attraction?  The LOA either is always working or is never working.  It is the law or it is fantasy.  I believe it is Law and is always in effect.

The law of choice is always in effect, at least when one is beyond infancy, and maybe even during infancy.  Some believe we incarnate and choose our parents and life, even before birth, perhaps.

What about mirroring?  Is everything a mirror?  How could some things be a mirror and not others?  And if everything is a mirror, how can the right of others to choice be coexistent with them being mirrors of us (hence their choice occurs within us)?  Is it because of our perception, that is how we choose to perceive the events external to us that their choice is also coincidentally made within us?  Would love some thoughts on this…  to me, it is very much like the time travel paradox.  Okay, time travel may or may not be possible, personally, I believe we cannot go back and change anything, anything that happened, happened the only way it can, because it has happened.  And, going forward, by living in the moment, we can make the future different.  But, say we could go back in time, and somehow change something in the life of our ancestors.  Then we would never be born.  Having never been born, we couldn’t go back in time to change anything…. so that in itself is a good argument why time travel cannot happen.  But, what about mirroring?  Can it be that everything is a mirror?

Most of us who have studied new age modalities know and understand the practicalities of when someone is angry with us, it is not about us, it is about them.  We are a mirror for them to display their anger, which is internal to them.  How though if they are mirrors for us, does this make us choose to be a mirror for them, who are using us as a mirror for their anger?   That is what kind of mirror are they for us in this instance?

Comments are going to be highly appreciated.

Peace and mirrors,

The Presence of My Higher Power is My Constant Source of Peace

During a crisis, I may wonder if I will ever again be free of worry and stress. Then, as I become quiet and allow my total focus to be on the presence of My Higher Power, I experience the peace and the immediate relief that my awareness of this peace brings to me.
What I have discovered is more than just a few moments of peace during a difficult time. I have discovered that peace is my constant reality because within me He is my constant source of peace.

I don’t want to think about what would have happened if I had not taken that moment to connect to my inner peace on a conscious level. I do want to remember what happened because I did take that moment. The experience was one of instant relief that helped me make it through a challenge.
