I believe I can

At a time of challenge or opportunity, I am given a boost past my own thoughts of limitation when someone says to me, “I believe you can do it!”

And that person is right, for I will get past the challenge and on to the achievements. Yet how can another person know more about me than I know about myself? It must be that the one who encourages me knows I have potential because the presence of my Higher Power is within me.

This is the truth I need to know for myself at all times, and I need to know this truth for others as well. With an encouraging word, someone else can confirm what is true: You can accomplish amazing things, because within you, is your wisdom, your strength, and your creativity.

My answer is this: “Yes, I believe I can, because I believe He is within me!”

There is nothing too big or too small that I can’t do when I set my mind to it!

Going With the Flow

“There’s a story about a group of Chinese men walking through the woods beside a rushing river. Suddenly, they spotted the body of an old man bobbing up and down in the roaring rapids.

“Thinking the old man was dead, they ran to the river’s edge trying to figure out how they were going to fish the body out of the water so that it wouldn’t be swept out to sea. Their discussion came to an abrupt halt when the old man, who they had thought was dead, emerged out of the water, dried himself off and started walking away. The men ran after the old man and asked, ‘How did you survive in that water? No one could swim in that water without being killed.’

“‘It is really easy,’ the old man replied. ‘I just went up when the water went up, and down when the water went down.'”

In Prayer and Meditation, a Sweet Peace Sweeps over My Soul

A hectic schedule can leave me feeling drained of energy and strength. Some mornings, just getting out of bed and handling the routine of the day can be a challenge. Responsibilities at work and home may have me wondering how much more I can possibly endure.

Yet before I make changes in my schedule and my life, I first focus within and cultivate a feeling of peace. I do this by turning to prayer and meditation. In the quiet and peaceful state of meditation, I feel the presence of a sweet serenity that sweeps over my soul to renew and restore me.

I feel a resurgence of energy to do all that is necessary today. I perform my tasks and responsibilities to the best of my ability and feel at peace with myself. Ready to start the next day anew.
